English Activities & cultural programm of the team…
Sake Elzinga and I are both responsible for the cultural programme. The idea behind this programme is that we want the participants to get to know each other’s culture better.
Part of this is that we want show history tot hem from both perspectives. We visited the “Drents Archief” and the “Drents Museum” in Assen. In March we visited the town of Leer. We focused on the Jewish history of Leer and we heard the story of a Jewish girl: Liesl Aussen. In April the group invited Mr. Micha Schliesser a survivor of “Westerbork”. This was a very impressive meeting. Mr. Schliesser told his story in a remarkable way. Many questions were asked. He answered them very openly.
After that we visited the camp area where he pointed out a number of places where he stayed during the war.
