Mathijs BogaertsMathijs Bogaerts was born in 1934 in Hoogezand-Sappemeer and lived with his family in the middle of the Oosterpark next to a Jewish family named Godorp. Both families had a close relationship to each other. Mathijs Bogaerts saw the trains, too, but did not knew that they were transports of Jews to a certain event. His mother witnessed how the family Godorp was arrested. He by himself watched Mrs. Godorp had to say goodbye to her home motioning out of the train.
